As a developer of major urban projects, we strive to make a difference by adopting more sustainable development and construction methods.

Our sustainability approach works towards the same goals defined by the United Nations (Sustainable Development Goals). Our approach responds to the global challenges we are facing every day. This is why we have selected 7 of these goals, in particular those related to sustainable cities and communities, good health and wellbeing, as well as measures related to climate change, to focus on. These goals pave the way to a better future for everyone.

SDG 11Sustainable cities and communities

As a major property developer, Immobel works in the general interest of cities and communities to support them in their ecological and societal transitions.

SDG 3Good health and wellbeing

The inhabitants of major cities now seek more qualitative living and working spaces, in which they can live and work comfortably and in good health. Immobel aims to create safe, flexible and inspiring living and working spaces by optimising air quality, comfort, light supply and sound insulation in its projects.

In addition, Immobel is committed to promoting the accessibility of sustainable forms of transport by building its projects close to public transport and electric charging stations.

SDG 13Measures relating to the fight against climate change

We want to measure the environmental footprint of our projects by identifying the levels of CO₂ emissions during construction as well as the materials used. We design our projects with the aim of giving them the longest lifespan possible and opt for renovation when feasible. Together with our partners, we are working to create greener mobility solutions.

SDG 15Life on land

We want to help find solutions to protect the local environment and its biodiversity. An increase of green spaces, green roofs and parks for example, will help tackle urban overheating and provide habitats for plants and insects.

SDG 7Clean and affordable energy

When possible, we avoid using fossil energy and opt for renewable energy that we generate on site, for example via geothermal systems.

We are committed to measuring our CO₂ emissions and creating an action plan to move towards carbon neutrality.

SDG 12Responsible consumption and production

Aware of the depletion of resources, we are adopting a circular approach by re-using construction equipment, in collaboration with partners specialising in these fields. We opt for the renovation of our buildings when possible.

SDG 6Clean water and sanitation

The scarcity of water is increasing and is likely to worsen as global temperatures rise. For many of our projects, we collect rainwater in tanks. We are also integrating storm basins in our projects in order to prevent flooding and take pressure off the drainage network.

Certifications

Measuring our performance and impact

We prioritise sustainable development and measure our efforts to ensure progress in this area. The certifications we have received confirm that the route we have taken has provided the best possible outcome. We are motivated to find even more ways to minimise our environmental footprint.

GRESB certification

GRESB (Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark) is a benchmark that provides standardized and validated Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) data to the capital markets.

BREEAM certification

Developed by the Building Research Establishment (BRE) in the United Kingdom in 1990, the BREEAM certification is the world’s leading sustainability assessment method for construction projects. Many of our projects carry the BREEAM label.

HQE certification

Designed by the High Environmental Quality association, this standard is a benchmark for sustainable construction in France.
